Hey everyone,

This is a beautiful compilation of fixes and troubleshooting cures. I hope you enjoy this guide and get some use out of it. This list is to give an updated and specific guide to common troubleshooting issues that should be used alongside the troubleshooting guide made by "Lightning". It will cover a variety of issues and a list of their specifics as well as the solutions for each issue.

Over the next few days I will be going through every message, error, and solution that I have come across with players, and will display the errors and solutions that were found in order to save some time and to ultimately serve as a reference when the thread is polished.

As always, if you have a tech error/question and need help, I am always available through PM or any other form of messaging.

((Although a lot of this information can be found in other threads on the forum--I have helped out players via Teamviewer/Skype with specific issues that I have not addressed through a post)).

HOW TO DOWNLOAD AGE OF WUSHU

Option A)

Install the game on the official website here:

--Create a new folder on your desktop
---Rename it "Age of Wushu".
----Download each individual .cab file and the setup.exe all in the same folder
-----Run the setup.exe
------Finish the install and run the game.

Option B) [UNAVAILABLE]


Option C) Auto-Installer
--Download the game through the auto-installer.

----When downloaded, open the game--it will update at the launcher.

COMMON ISSUES WITH DOWNLOADING

I. Auto installer stops at 3599MB in the downloading process.

A:This is a common issue with the auto-installer and it will bug. Simply try one of the other downloading options above.

II. .CAB Files are corrupted.
You can check to see if your .CAB files are corrupted with using the md5 checksum which is available to download at http://www.ageofwushu.com/download

III. When running the setup with the .cab files--I receive errors in Chinese.

A: The pop up window in chinese with a list of files translates that the files "can not be created"--please try to redownload the files and try the setup again. This could occur when you open the setup.exe when you have the .cab files in a place such as your downloads folder, instead of having it all in one separate folder before running the setup. It creates the files, but they don't work.

IV. I receive "??????????"


A: Please try to remove any other files when running the install and keep only the setup.exe||.cab files in the folder when you run the install.

V. I am running into the [Steam.api] error.


A: Simple fix: Run [Steam] as an administrator.

VI. I can't find the game via Steam.

A: In certain countries--Age of Wushu is not available to download through Steam. This is out of my realm of changing.

UPDATER

I. Configuration file update failed/autopatcher.
_______________________________________________________________________
A: If you see the picture above, there is something wrong with your updater_cfg folder||autopatcher. Deactivate your antivirus/firewall software and download a copy of my "updater_cfg" folder which can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=18810

Make sure that Age of Wushu is in the [Program Files] directory. If it's in any other directory, it could have an issue with the auto-updater. Check to see if your internet explorer/browser settings are set to "working offline".

II. How can I manually patch the game? My autopatcher won't work after I've tried the above fixes.

A: You can download the patches manually here: http://www.ageofwushu.com/download
It may take a day or two for the staff to upload the new patches, so please be patient.

III. Help, I have a copy of Age of Wushu in the "World of Contenders/Ultimate Scrolls" patch.

A: The only way to fix this is to have all the updated patches for the game which can be solved by correcting the auto-updater or manually patching to the newest version.

LAUNCHER

I. All the servers are in maintenance.

A: This can be due to a number of things.
---A maintenance is occurring.
----Your internet browser settings/extensions are blocking the connection between the launcher and the server which results in the "servers are in maint" error.
☆ In IE (even if this is not your default browser) be sure to not have it set to "Work Offline" ☆
☆ In IE > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings > uncheck "Automatically Detect Settings" ☆
☆fxlaunch.exe (run as administrator and compatibility mode)☆

I. All the servers are in maintenance (cont.)

A:
--Your firewall/antivirus is causing the disruption between the server and your client.
---Disable the anti virus/malware and defender/firewall, or add exceptions for:
☆fxlaunch.exe (Age of Wushu folder)☆
☆fxupdate.exe (updater and updater_folder)☆
☆fxgame.exe, iepop.exe, bugreport.exe (bin folder)☆
☆AutoUI.exe (bin/GPK folder)☆
☆SnailRes.exe (SnailRes folder)☆

-----This can also be caused by the accompanying error: "Configuration File Update Failed" look above to find the solution for that.
((The issue is caused by a disruption between your client and the server))

II. Age of Wushu is not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit error.


--Make sure that the folder is in the correct file directory, and it's fxlaunch.exe file has been placed on compatibility mode before trying. If this does not work please download the game through Steam. This is an error where the game's fxlaunch.exe does not register certain bits of information. And to avoid the compatibility error--a clean install is recommended over Steam. If you can not download the game through Steam, uninstall the game--and try to delete the data_1ageofwushusetup.exe that you had used with your .cab files. Restart the process of opening that with all of your .cab files present but with a fresh download of the setup.exe. After installation, try again with compatibility settings/administrator privileges.

CLIENT ERRORS

I. TIP! Don't Speed Up.

A: Unfortunately, this particular error is not a tip for SUWAT.
This is caused when [Webroot's Realtime Shield] is activated--please disable it or give permissions to the game so it can pass through the filter before playing.

II. lua_script error

A: Lua script errors can be better known as a blanket term for a wide array of scripting errors.
((NOTE: Some lua script errors can be solved with a fix with the updater_cfg if you are receiving the error: "Configuration file update-failed.))
--Try to repair the client with the repair feature on the launcher.
---If that does not work, uninstall and delete all contents of your Age of Wushu folder and re-install a new copy of the game on the website or through Steam.

III. Client-Side-By-Side-Version is incorrect.

A: You do not have the newest patch for the game. Please check your auto-updater or manually patch the game from http://www.ageofwushu.com/download

IV. Constant disconnection errors.


A:
-- "Windows has encountered an unexpected error" --

If you receive the error above, please click "show more details" and then post them below so I can go through them and identify the error.
---If you are experiencing an unusually high level of disconnects in certain areas, try to adjust your game's graphic settings/player display settings. Also try to close out of any tabs/external programs that you are running alongside the game as this may cause disconnects or higher latency.
----If the game is disconnecting and closing out immediately upon log-in. It is more than likely due to the "Side-By-Side" error listed above. It will kick you out almost immediately upon entering the game after it detects that you do not have the latest patch.

V. LATENCY/LAG ISSUES

A:
☆Make sure your graphic's options are set to the minimal settings (you can do this by pressing [ESC] within the game)☆
☆Make sure no other programs that are extensive are running while your gaming☆
☆Close all internet tabs that you have open--and try to get the most out of your internet by connecting right into the router, or being very close to it. (If on a mobile device such as a laptop)☆
☆Some players prefer to use external programs such as battleping or WTFast to improve their latency☆

I. GUI: Story/Login graphical error.

A: If you are running the game from the download on the regular client, completely uninstall and redownload the game over Steam platform. This is a rare issue dealing with the graphics not being properly displayed and is caused by a corruption with a game file).
This typically happens on the WIN 7 SP 1 & 2 |||&||| WIN XP SP 3

II. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (TTOTD (Technical term of the day) (IRQL = Interrupt ReQuests Level)

A: The error that generates this bug check usually occurs after the installation of a faulty device driver. To fix this, go to your system settings on your Windows 7 Operating System at start.
[F8] [F5] [F12] may work. When you bring up the menu go into the advanced system settings and click "last known good configuration". This should reverse the damage done from the driver.

III. Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error

A: Go to add or remove programs on your programs list and uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package. Restart your computer and please download a fresh copy of Microsoft Visual Library here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=5555

MISC. ERRORS

I. My cursor is not showing up in-game.

A: This is caused when the "cur" folder inside the [res] folder is non-existant, corrupt, or misplaced.
Simply try to find the folder inside your AoW folder and put it in the correct folder path: [res]

II. Copy File Failed.

A: Give fxgame.exe administrator privileges.
_______________________________________________________________________
III. Instance graphical issues. (I walk into GCC/TV and I can't move--the ground is gone.)

A: This is a rare issue with people that I have only seen with international players playing on Windows XP. They were able to play other servers that were local for them with no issues at all in instances. If you are having this error, try to delete any contents of your files from AoW and try to alternatively download the game from Steam for a fresh install, or re-install using the .cab files on the download page. This is caused by a corruption in one of the files in [res].

IV. Random ordinal or dll error.

A: You have corrupted files. Try to repair your client at the launcher. If that does not work install a fresh copy of the game.

V. Sorry, you haven't bought the tempest of strife version, so you are unable to experience it.

A: Choose a different story-line, the TOS story-line is non-existent and is simply acting as a placeholder for now.

VI. Most wanted man in wulin/GPK detection debuff.

A:
That debuff happens to regular players once in a while--it is a tool designed to combat botting by using the GPK detection system to detect external programs that may be designed for auto'ing.
When you get hit by this debuff:
- Logout.
- Wait 5-10 mins. ((Go back to enjoying your favorite channel))
- Login again
- The debuff should be gone.

VII. Failed to apply bin\iepop.exe

A: Go to your bin folder in your Age of Wushu folder, and give administrator privileges to your iepop file. Also set the compatibility settings to Windows Service Pack 2.

VIII. I have icons missing.

A: There was an error with the installation of the game and it appears that your icons file may have been corrupted, please try to repair the client via the repair feature on the launcher or do a re-installation using an alternative method of downloading. (If used option (A) .cab files. Then try option (B) Steam download, and vise versa.
________________________________________________________________________

IX. [Serious error occured(ERRORID2=1 GPK Start Failed!)]

A: Delete your current bin folder from your Age of Wushu folder and then start up the game. It will automatically download and replace your bin folder which holds your GPK. Repair the client and try entering the game.

X. AppHangB error
If you are suffering from the "AppHangB" error in-game. Simply give compatibility privileges to Windows 7 for fxlauncher.exe/fxgame.exe (inside your bin)/fxupdate.exe(inside your updater_) folders. Also give administrator privileges to each of these files.

Tech behind it: AppHangB is a blanket term for a crash that is caused by the stalling/loading of an application or a program. It can actually be caused by a variety of issues but to deal with the specific issue for closing out on "fxlaunch.exe" the above solution is recommended.

A) Disable your firewall/antivirus software or any "realtime shields" that may interfere with the game initializing.
B) Make sure the game is put within the program files section of your folder.
C) Check the game version to see if it matches up with the current patch (0.0.147)
D) Check to see if there is any other overlays or programs that you may be using that may inhibit the launcher from connecting to the server.
E) How far can you get into the launcher?
F) Can you provide screenshots? Those will help :)

If you downloaded with the auto-installer, delete and redownload with the .cab

If you downloaded with the .cab files, delete and redownload with the auto installer.
